One thing I hear over and over from Mom’s who are worried about having their newborn photos done in their home is “But my house isn’t perfect”. I’m here to tell you that you don’t need a perfect Pinterest worthy home to have beautiful newborn lifestyle photos.
You just had a baby, and you might have other little ones at home, the last thing you need to stress about is having a perfectly clean home. Your house should look lived in- burp cloths on the couch, coffee cups on the tables and endless loads of laundry that will eventually get folded. This is real life and what I’m here to capture.
Your Home is Part of Your Story
When you invite me into your home I come in and look for the light. I look for windows and little spaces that I know will capture you and your baby in the best, and most flattering, way. I look for things that are unique to you and your story such as a rocking chair that you will use to feed your baby, a bassinet gifted to you my a loved one, or. nursery you poured your heart into.
I Only Need A Few Small Spaces
A corner of a couch, a window when the light pours in, a neutral wall in the living room, or a cozy bed. That’s it, that’s all I need to photograph you and your family. You don’t need to deep clean, paint or redesign your home. I will move things around as I go and you can relax and snuggle your new little love.
The Beauty Is In the In-Between
There is something so beautiful imperfect about those first few weeks at home. The softness, the slowness, the beauty of being in your newborn bubble. That is what I want to capture. No stiff studio sessions, no rushing out of the house, no worrying about if the baby is sleeping or not. At home is where you and your family are the most comfortable and that is what will shine through in your newborn images.
Perfection Isn’t The Goal, Presense Is
As a Mama myself, I know how vulnerable and raw those first few weeks at home with a new baby are. You’re healing, you’re adjusting, you’re surviving! The last thing I want for you is to feel like you need to curate a perfect home. Your family doesn’t need a perfect home- they need you and that is what I want I’m here to photograph for you to remember.
